MUSIC NOTES
November 30, 2009

The Limon Band and Choral students will be receiving a packet of 10 tickets each to sell for our upcoming Chili Supper and Bake Sale coming up on December 8th.  Each student is asked to sell 10 tickets to assist us in having a successful fund raiser for the Music Parent’s organization.  We also ask each student to give to their parents the bake sale note that is in their ticket packet that gives instruction for the Music Parents’ Bake Sale held the same night.  Each family is asked to bring 2 baked items for the Bake Sale that is held during the Chili Supper.  Please assist your child to take care of these tickets as they are very valuable and is the student’s financial responsibility if lost.  The students are asked to turn in either the money for the tickets sold or the unsold tickets on the 8th of December.   This is a great fund raiser and we appreciate everyone’s help.

This reminds us all to mark our calendars for the Winter Concert on December 8 that will include the Senior Band, Cadet Band and HS/MS Choir, plus the Limon Children’s Choir joining the HS/MS Choir for the choirs’ grand finale.  The concert is free for admission and begins after the Chili Supper at 7:30 p.m.  Students in the LCC and the Beginning Band will have special designated seating as they are our honored guests!

The Limon Elementary Christmas program is Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 pm in the Activities Building.  A note has gone home explaining the details to include what students are expected to wear.  (In short, nice clothes.)  This program will feature the 4th grade recorder players, the Fifth Grade Beginning Band, the Limon Children’s Choir, and all elementary students in grades K-5.

Students will be receiving a notice of what their band bills are coming up in the next two weeks.  Please do your best to update you child’s band bill so that our accounts can balance at the end of the month of December.

The Senior Band and HS/MS Choir will be performing at the Parade of Lights on December 18th this year again.  The band and choir do not march but join together for a great time of caroling with the Limon community.  This is also part of the grade for the students of the Senior Band and HS/MS Choir.  The LCC is also welcome to join in leading the caroling.  More information will come later.

The Limon Children’s Choir will rehearse on December 8, but NOT on December 15, the day of the elementary program.  Choir rehearsals will resume on Tuesday, January 19.  Mrs. McCallum will re-audition students if they are interested in joining the LCC for 2nd semester.  Current members need not audition again.

Fourth graders are busy learning 3 challenging songs for their December concert.  Parents:  Thanks for your support by encouraging them to practice.  Ideally, students should have a focused practice session about 15 minutes at least 5 days a week.

Mark your calendars now for January 7 for the MS and HS Eastern Colorado Honor Band Festival in Bennett.  Many of our talented, hard-working students made it into these bands so plan now on coming to their concert on January 7.

If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call:  Mr. Greg Scherrer @ 719-775-2350 x 374, or Mrs. McCallum @ 719-775-2350 x 313.
